3. Once Add New Set is selected you may now zoom in and out pinching and expanding your fingers on the controller screen to find the area you would like to download maps on. You may use the Add New Set box to do many things such as:

  • Name your set as well as specify the zoom levels you want to save

  • Move the map to the position you want to save and then set the zoom levels and click Download to save the tile you have selected.

  • To change the map layout, click on the map selected and change the map you would like to choose from and that map layout will load.

  • Select or de-select Fetch elevation data. You will most of the time want to download the elevation data when downloading the maps so you have that info as well.

  • Once you have completed this, choose download to save the map, which will be available when you visit that area, and you will be able to view that map without Wi-Fi.

    • Ensure to download these maps when you have an Wi-Fi connection to view later when you do not have access to a connection but still will need maps.

    • In the tiles to the left you can see previews of the min and max zoom levels you have chosen, which give you an idea of how big of an area you are downloading.

4.Your new map along with elevevation data is now cached in your maps for use at a later time.

  • You now have the tiles and the elevation of the ground ready to use when you fly in that area.

Using Terrain Follow During A Survey

  • If the survey area has significant elevation variation you will want to enable Terrain Following.

  • Terrain following comes in handy multiple ways. When running a survey, if the terrain below isn’t flat (either low dips or high hills) your data can be thrown off because of the unlevel terrain. Using terrain follow is also helpful if there are high hills, without terrain follow the drone could fly into ground level obstacles.

  1. To enable terrain follow, while uploading your map tile sets on the drone, select the check box “Fetch elevation data” in the Add New Set box.

2. Once the map is downloaded, under offline maps, you will now see your map along with the elevation data below the cached map.
