Compass Calibration

At some point during the drone’s lifespan, it is very possible there may be a need for the drone to have its compasses recalibrated to ensure stable position accuracy and flight stability.

WisprGroundControl now features a Calibration tab with access to the Compass Calibration screen for this purpose.

  • To get started, tap the WISPR logo in the top left corner, Select Settings, and tap the Calibration tab as shown below.

  • As shown on screen, tap compass.

  • In the image below you can see two compasses to be calibrated.

    • Be sure they display as shown below, with the secondary compass marked as internal. If they are not, you can attempt one calibration and see if the compasses are fixed when returning to this screen. If they are not, you will need to contact support.

  • Use the ‘Ok’ button shown to confirm the start of calibration.

  • Once you begin, pick up the drone and begin rotating it in all directions. You will see a light blue progress bar begin to fill as you rotate. Continue until the bar fully completes.

When completed, you will see the above screen that displays the results of the calibration. Allow the green progress bar to complete.

The results displayed above are acceptable to use. You want Compass 1 to be well in the green zone. The value of Compass 2 is not to be concerned with- as long as Compass 1 has a good calibration your flight stability will be fine.

Once you have a calibration that is satisfactory, reboot the drone after the progress bar finishes. You’re ready to fly.
