How to update Wispr Drone Flight Firmware

Sections

Connect drone to computer

  1. Plug in a USB to USB Mini cord going your computer/laptop (USB) to the back single port at the top tier which is a usb mini plug.

2. Once plugged into both, open mission planner. If you do not have mission planner please download the latest version from here : https://ardupilot.org/planner/docs/mission-planner-installation.html

  • Do not connect the drone to Mission Planner.

Go to setup ->install firmware -> Load custom firmware.

3. The latest custom firmware will be included in the last zip file you received from WISPR. It will be saved as .apj file such as this (this is only an example). Once clicked on Load custom firmware the .apj will be loaded. A green progress bar will fill the status bar. Once it finishes to the end you have now upload the newest WISPR Flight Firmware onto your drone.

  • If you do not have this file please visit here : /wiki/spaces/WSDS/pages/49348639 to get the newest downloads and zip files for WISPR Software and Flight Firmware Downloads.

While uploading the custom firmware, you may get a pop-up saying “Please unplug the board, press OK, and then plug your connection back into the Mission Planner”. This is normal and nothing to be alarmed about. Just follow those directions. This will not hurt anything you are uploading. (See below picture for example)
