  • Verify that the camera is receiving power and is powered on.

  • Take a picture using the physical camera trigger button on the top right of your controller.

  • Examine the connectors and ribbon of the HDMI ribbon cable for any significant damage that might effect data transmission.

    • Check the ports and connectors of your HDMI ribbon to make sure there are are no loose connections. All connectors should be snug when plugged into the HDMI ports.

  • Leave the HDMI ribbon unplugged from the front mini-HDMI port of the drone until the drone has finished booting, and then plug the HDMI back into the camera

    • If drone is already powered on, unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in.

  • Take a picture manually using the button on the camera itself. Be sure to do this several times if necessary and give it some patience, as generally this step is a reliable way to return the camera feed.

  • If all of these look good, you should close out of WISPR Ground Control and reboot the drone. The camera feed should appear after the next bootup.

  • Be sure that QGroundControl isn’t open in the backgrondbackground, as it will fight over the port to display the feed with WISPRGroundControl.

  • Ensure the shutter speed i at 1/1000, This will fix any kind of bluriness blurriness in the pictures. If there is an overcast, the shutter speed should be set to 1/800. If there is any help needed please contact support and they will make sure your shutter speed is set correctly.

What should I do if running a structure scan and get a “Critical: PreArm: GPS 1 failing configuration checks.” and the .TXT file doesnt doesn't save after running the structure scan?

  • Bring your drone home, reboot and plan the mission again. This should reset all on the drone and you should not have a problem gathering the .TXT file.

    • This is caused by the GPS dropping out due to interfernce interference resulting in corruption of the log. Be mindful how close you are running your structure scan to the structure itself and surrouning surrounding structures/power lines.

What should be done if the video feed is not showing on my Fly View screen in WISPR Ground Control?

  • Check the Camera Lens

    • Ensure that the camera lens cover is removed.

  • Verify Camera Power

    • Confirm that the camera is powered on by toggling the switch located on top of the camera.

  • Inspect Camera Mounting and Gimbal Position

    • Ensure the camera is securely mounted.

    • Verify that the gimbal is in the Follow Mode position. In this mode, the gimbal should remain locked in a forward-facing position and not sway freely.

  • Confirm Gimbal Status

    • A blue LED light should be visible at the back of the gimbal, indicating it is in Follow Mode.

  • What should be done before flying with this payload?

    • Ensure the correct payload is selected in WISPR Ground Control.

    • BEFORE EACH FLIGHT : Twist the focus ring located on the lens to infinity.

What overlap can be used while flying a mission with this payload?

  • Never go above 70/70 overlap when you plan a mission with this payload.

Why are there spaces in between my photos when watching my mission?

It is entirely normal to observe a small gap between pictures immediately after a turnaround or loop. This is an intentional design choice due to the high-resolution cameras. Additional photos are not required immediately after a turnaround. In every other line, you will notice the images closely aligned. Two pictures are taken quickly allowing for spacing between the next row on turn around. After completing a turnaround, the camera resumes its regular spacing. This practice is implemented to enhance efficiency and to prevent inaccurate geotags on closely positioned images or those taken during turns.

General Information:

  • Normally when connecting with a Vio, you will see an initial parameter bar load, disappear for a few seconds, and then return, but in a state where it appears to be almost done while not moving.

    • When you see this, the Vio is downloading its parameter list. Sometimes you may see “Mount: Not Healthy” appear on screen before they load.

    • You can verify that this is occurring by tapping the megaphone icon and looking for “Info: Mount: GREMSY VIO fw:7.7.5.0”.

      • for the process to conclude. There have been instances where it appeared the payload is not working, but simply took longer to initiate.

I only have partial control with the Zio or Vio. Zoom does not work, nor does stream swap between normal and thermal vision for the Vio. This

First, try simply rebooting the drone and WisprGroundControl. There have been one or two instances where the Vio appeared to pull its parameters yet lacked full functionality, but was resolved with a restart.

If this issue persists, it can be fixed by:

  • Completely uninstalling WISPRGroundControl then reinstalling

  • Booting the drone, connecting to WISPRGroundControl , and setting the payload to Vio

  • Reboot both the drone and WISPRGroundControl, allow the param bar to fully load the Vio firmware.

  • Reboot both again, and after the parameters are finished loading you should have full control.

I have no roll wheel control on the Vio.

  • Select Vio as your payload in WisprGroundControl before booting (so you do not have to reboot after)

  • Connect your Vio to the quick attach via the gimbal

  • Power on the drone and open QGroundControl and allow parameters to load fully

  • Once loaded close QGroundControl and open WisprGroundControl, allow parameters to load and you should have a working stream and you will have full function of the roll wheel.

When I use the Gimbal Center button, I lose control of the gimbal afterwards.

  • Boot the drone, and open QGC. Allow the parameters for the Vio to fully load.

  • Tap the down arrow to the right of the “Values” widget on the right side.

  • Select ‘Camera’ from the drop down options.

  • You should see 'Vio Payload F1” (or G1) in the widget.

  • Tap the Gear Icon to the left of ‘Camera’ on the widget.

  • Tap ‘Setting Target'

    • Change to ‘Gimbal Device’

    • Where you see Gimbal mode, change to Follow. If this is already set to Follow, change it to Lock and then back to Follow.

  • Change the ‘Setting Target’ back to ‘Camera Device’ and press OK.

  • This should resolve the issue. Be sure to verify the gimbal has full control after using the Gimbal Center button in WGC.

During boot, the gimbal moves around as it orients itself as normal. However, immediately after centering itself, the gimbal goes completely limp.

  • Using the steps for the issue listed above should resolve this issue.
